Disney Vacation 2014 – Tuesday: Hollywood Studios

Padawan Jasper and CalebThe last two times we were at Hollywood Studios with the boys, they wanted to do the Jedi Padawan Training Experience. The first time, we didn’t know what we were doing, so we didn’t get signed up in time. The second time, Tate backed out at the last minute. This time, we made sure to get to the park in time to get signed up and to get Tate psyched up so that he wouldn’t back out at the last minute.

It worked. We signed up and Tate, Jasper, and cousin Caleb to be trained as Jedi Padawan. They were scheduled to battle the Dark Side at 11am, which meant that they needed to be back for training at 10:30.

While we were waiting for training, we went on the Star Tours ride (again, just walking right on without waiting) and wandered around the backlot area.

Our time was up and The Boys went off to be trained as young Padawan. They battled Darth Vader and emerged victorious. I put up videos of Tate and Jasper battling Darth Vader. Tate used his force-push to knock over some Storm Troopers. It was pretty awesome.

From there, we hopped in for a quick showing of the Muppet’s 3D before lunching at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. I had a chicken carbonara that was beyond delicious, but I couldn’t finish the whole bowl. Jasper didn’t eat much and Tate had spaghetti and meatballs with a really yummy marinara sauce. We all left stuffed to our gills.

After lunch we headed over to the Sunset Boulevard area to walk for a bit, settle our lunch into our stomaches, and to see about getting on the Tower of Terror ride. The line was 2 hours long. In all the times I’ve been to Disney World, I’ve never been on the Tower of Terror. I guess we’ll have to come back again.

Instead of the Tower of Terror, we decided to go on the Rockin’ Roller Coaster, then have some quiet time at the Beauty and The Beast stage show. After the show, we wandered around the Animation Courtyard before heading back to the Pixar area to ride the Toy Story Midway Mania. This was a lot of fun and I can see why it’s in high demand.

After the Midway Mania, we decided to head home for the day. It was just about supper time and we were pretty tired from the long day yesterday. We made our way back to our resort, met up with The Family, and Doug, Dad and I headed “off property” to a grocery store to pick up some reasonably healthy nosh for dinner.

We had a nice family dinner and stayed up late relaxing. Tomorrow is an “off” day. There are no specific plans and we’re all talking about doing our own thing around the resorts or at Downtown Disney.
